PHASE ONE - DISCOVERY
In the Discover Phase, we start with an in-depth conversation where I listen closely to understand your lifestyle, preferences, and vision. We walk the site together, studying its unique characteristics—views, sun patterns, wind, access, and more. This careful observation informs the design process, ensuring your home harmonizes with the land and respects its surroundings. I believe in site-specific design, tailoring each home to its environment by optimizing natural light, ventilation, and views. We also handle essential details like ordering a property survey, listing desired spaces, and ensuring compliance with all regulations, while considering ecological goals and budget.
PHASE TWO - CONCEPTUAL DESIGN
In the Conceptual Design Phase, I transform the raw data from discovery into an initial vision for your home. Starting with rough sketches of the site plan, floor plans, and exterior, we collaborate to refine these ideas, gradually developing more detailed drawings and material choices, including square footage and exterior finishes. At this stage, it's beneficial to involve a general contractor for practical insights and an early cost estimate to ensure the project stays within budget.
PHASE THREE - CONSTRUCTION DOCUMENTS
After the conceptual design and budget are approved, I move forward with creating the construction documents. These detailed drawings and specifications guide your contractor in building your home and include everything needed for permits, review board approval, and accurate cost estimates. The final drawing set features site plans, floor plans, elevations, sections, structural and electrical plans, plus finish and fixture selections. I also offer 3D drawings and models to help you visualize your home, ensuring clarity and eliminating guesswork.
PHASE FOUR - CONSTRUCTION ADMINISTRATION
During the Construction Administration Phase, I actively oversee the build by making site visits, providing clarifications, and reviewing contractor submittals and shop drawings. I work closely with local trades and craftspeople, valuing their expertise to enhance the project's outcome. My role is to advocate for your vision, ensuring that every detail aligns with the design intent and meets your expectations.
